Theater Room Dark Color Choices?

Let me put my question another way, we are doing a T.V. room is the basement with a larger then normal screen. I have heard with a larger screen stay with dark colors. I was going to do a deep burgundy in the whole room, but at a clearance sale I found a deep brown suede look sectional. Now I am thinking of keeping the wall the same deep burgundy. How do you think that will look. When I put the two togther I don’t see the connection, but paint & carpet employees seems to think it will be rich in color look, with all browns thay say it will be a droopy brown look. I did my self look into the tan or suade walls but again that is to light for the larger screen, which will reflect light off the walls & take away from the movie.

You could try using throw pillows or throws to incorporate the colors together.Or maybe trying to find some artwork for the walls to bring it together more. But the color you have chosen seemslike a great choice.Brown is a neutral color anyway so it should go together fine.Or maybe try some lighting fixtures with some gold in it.Good luck to you.
I don’t think the advice you’ve gotten is too far off the mark. If you use the burgandy walls, you might put up a chair rail or use a border paper at chair rail height in the burgandy and brown color family. You could even look at carpet showrooms for an area rug patterned in those colors like in the old movie houses. A friend of mine even took rope lighting and ran around the underside of the sofas and chairs to give even more atmosphere to the room. I think it would look great, maybe some of the art deco sconce type lighting. With a few palms here and there, you sounds like you have the makings of a really elegant theatre room. Good luck with it!!
