Not so bad things:
Kitchen will need new cabinets, or just sanded and refinished
Needs new carpet, 1000 sq ft.. although it has hardwood
Bathroom will need to be updated, nothing stylish
Needs heating and cooling unit, my uncle owns a business in this
Needs a fresh coat of paint, Sears always has cans on sale for $10 that were “mess ups”.. I could eventually find some good stuff there
Questionable things I have no idea about:
A hole in the living room ceiling needs repaired. Someone stepped through it in the attic. Is this an easy fix? It seems that you could just patch it up with a new piece of drywall.
*I’m paying cash for this house, living in it for awhile and renting it out while I find the next project.
My uncle would sell me a heating/cooling unit for 1k, and it already has duct work.
Other uncle is a land surveyor/contractor.
Can I get through this alive and make $ eventually?

I am finishing my basement now and will be ready for carpet in a few weeks. The basement is 480 sq. ft. and 1 staircase that will also be carpeted. I just want the basic run of the mill carpet. I got a quote from empire last night for $1050. I was wandering if this was a decent price or if there was somewhere else to that might be cheaper. Thanks.

I live in the Columbus, OH area. I received a quote to install Mohawk berber carpeting and premium pad in our finished basement. The area is about 200 sq ft, and the price includes removing and disposing of the old carpet and pad. This also includes installing carpet on the stairway. It is a “floating” stairway (with steps only, no risers), so each step will be individually wrapped in carpet. Is $815 a fair price for this job?

I know that the price largely depends on what type of carpeting I buy. I am looking for a ball park or average estimate. This is for a rental property and I only need it to last for about three years. I am the tenant and really don’t want to pay more than I have to since I am not going to be taking it with me when I move out. I don’t need anything too fancy but I would still like something comfortable that looks decent. As for the installation, there is no carpet to remove and I can move most if not all of the furniture myself if that reduces the price. This is for a large bed room, about 270 sq ft. (26*11). Where is the best carpet installation place in Westchester, New York?
I got a quote from a local carpet place in Mt. Kisco, NY. The name is Suburban Floor. Does any one know this store’s reputation? They gave me a quote for $1,270, which includes removal the existing carpet and install new carpet, Mohawk brand, Sensational styple, 40 oz synthetic hair and jute padding. Is this a good price? Can I use the existing padding? If I do, the price would reduce by $100.
Should I look into other companies such as Empire today, Home Depot and Lows? Any other suggestions?
