Carpet is typically measured in square yards.
(a) If the carpet you want costs $12 per square yard, how much does it cost per square foot?
(b) The local carpet shop is running a sale on the padding placed underneath the carpet. For this week only, the padding is $0.25 per square foot. Your living room measures 100 feet by 4 yards. With the carpet mentioned in Part (a), how much will it cost to pad and carpet your living room floor?
Carpet Installation Question?

I had carpet installed in my home in May 2006. My husband supervised, so I didn’t see it till it was done.
I will try to describe what I think is a problem.
There are several areas in the home where the carpet meets up to the tile. Therefore it was cut, and glued down onto a tack strip.
It is QUITE obvious that the padding under the carpet was cut back about 4 inches away from the tack strip. Therefore making a visible ‘divit’ from where the pad ends underneath the carpet, to where the carpet meets the tack strip and tile. I find this visually undesirable. I would like to see a smooth and flawless transition from the carpeted area to the tile.
Also, you can feel the prongs of the tack strip with your bare feet if you step on it….because there is no pad there I suppose. But it has cut the bottoms of my 17 month old daughters feet as she walks across the thresholds from tile to carpet.
Is this installation technique normal? I’ve not seen the prob B4. Should I request a fix?
How Do I Prepare A Cement Floor For Carpet Installation? Do I Need To Worry About Small Amounts Of Adhesive?

We removed old carpeting from our basement. It had been glued to the cement and though we used an ice scraper to remove most of the carpet foam there are spots where a slight residue remains. Do I need a special chemical to remove the residue, or will the new padding and carpet mask this?
Where Is The Best Carpet Installation In Westchester, New York?

This is for a large bed room, about 270 sq ft. (26*11). Where is the best carpet installation place in Westchester, New York?
I got a quote from a local carpet place in Mt. Kisco, NY. The name is Suburban Floor. Does any one know this store’s reputation? They gave me a quote for $1,270, which includes removal the existing carpet and install new carpet, Mohawk brand, Sensational styple, 40 oz synthetic hair and jute padding. Is this a good price? Can I use the existing padding? If I do, the price would reduce by $100.
Should I look into other companies such as Empire today, Home Depot and Lows? Any other suggestions?
Also, the carpet is about 6 years old. What is the average year that bed room carpet should be replaced?

I bought a few area rugs at yard sales and would like to put some padding under them. I am looking for a non-slip kind and real soft. Where can I buy it? Please don’t send me to the Carpet Store. They charge high prices even though they should have small pieces as left over. I am looking at Lowes or Home depot. Thanks

Some people who want to have carpet in their house in a low budget might also like to install it themselves. There are many ways of carpeting a room cheaply or by spending a small amount. If you buy and install it in a hurry, then it might become too expensive for people with a low budget.
If you want to carpet your room withoout spending much , you can do it by using carpet samples. You can buy the samples at very low cost as they are usually not used.
