I’m going to do some minor renovations to a two bedroom rental unit in preparation to rent it out again. I’m going to paint and replace the carpeting. I’m trying to do it as reasonably priced as possible. For paint where should I buy it at a supply house of some kind or a home depot type place, should i wait for a sale, and should I buy it in 5 gallon or 1 gallon containers as far as savings are concerned. What is a good price to pay for a general neutral color per 5 or 1 gallon containers? For carpeting I’m going to check out several local carpet stores and look through their remnant selections. What would be a good price to pay per sq yard? Any other thoughts would be appreciated. I’m not looking to do anything special, just the basics.

Can I Carpet Over Asbestos Floor Tile?

I was planning to have Home Depot install new carpet throughout our house (we have a baby on the way). I just had a piece of floor tile tested for asbestos. It is 25% asbestos, unfortunately. House was built in 1967, but my husband and I were young and just getting married when we bought the house (8 years ago), and though we had it inspected, apparently asbestos was not part of the inspection. The previous homeowners did not mention any possibility of asbestos (the house was “for sale by owner” too). They seemed like good people, but shouldn’t they have said something about the tile? It seems suspicious that they had carpeted over this tile in two bedrooms, and the third bedroom has no carpeting at all, just those lovely tiles! And some closets have the tile too. Home Depot wants us to remove some tiles to tack down the new carpeting. Can’t they just carpet over it like the other rooms were done? I know we can’t afford to have the tile professionally removed.

Does The Carpet Cleaning Machine That You Can Rent From Home Depot Work Well?

I have to have the carpet in my apartment “professionally cleaned” before I move out. I can’t buy the machine from Walmart because my movers are moving out (out of state) on a Saturday, I am then cleaning the carpets on sunday/monday, and then give the keys over on monday afternoon. I won’t be able to take a carpet cleaning machine with me unfortunately if I were to buy it.

How Much Would Carpet/installation Cost For About 800-900 Sq. Ft.?

I am about to buy a house that needs carpet replaced throughout. I am too shy to ask the people at home depot. I just want a plush, tan colored carpet. Also, does the price per square foot include padding, tack boards and installation, or just the carpet? Thank you.
