We just steamed cleaned our carpeting (with a rented steam cleaner) and while we are waiting for it to dry – it really has a bad odor all throught the house!!!! We have been doing this yearly for the past 15 years and have never had this problem….Any suggestions or thoughts about what happened? Or advise on a product I can buy that will neutralize the odor in the carpet?

I want to paint all my bedrooms a neutral light beige color and put in a neutral beige carpeting in all in anticipation of putting our home up for sale this spring. Is that the best route to go to appeal to prospective buyers? I would use different accent colors, bedspreads & curtains etc in each room.

How Can I Remove Dark (possibly Oily) Stains From Light Gray Car Upholstery And Carpet Without Damaging It?

I am trying to prepare the 1993 Chevy Corsica our kids drove before they went to college for a quick sale. The engine and tranny are strong and it has low miles for its age. The tires are quite new and it has a CD player in addition to the AM FM radio.
But the upholstery and carpeting are stained in places in such a way that just shampooing it won’t take care of it all. It is a little fragile due to age and sunlight exposure. Also, I don’t want to damage the strength of the seat belts with the cleaners I use.
Do you have any suggestions?
Can A Builder Enter A Home After Sale And Rip Out Carpeting W/o Permission?

I just closed on a home in a new subdivision a week ago. At the time of close, a bedroom and living room were carpeted although I paid for tile upgrades. After the keys were turned over to me and after the close of escrow, I signed a doc saying no entry without my presence and I documented the flooring discrepancy. I returned to my new home today and the carpeting had been ripped out and replaced with tiles and damage to walls and baseboards. Is this a criminal violation? state=CA
Has Anyone Sold A House With A Basement That Floods?
December 23, 2009 by

I am trying to put my house up for sale-however my basement is in need of help. It was finished by us, but a terrible storm left three feet of water and ruined everything. It has not flooded since, but we have removed the lower half of the walls and all of the carpeting.
My husband wants to re-finish it-as if the flood never happened. I would like to take everything down and sell the house with a full UNfinished basement. I would hate for a new owner to go through the heartache of having a room destroyed by a flood.
Any personal experiences with this decision? Or opinions from people in the real estate business?
