They normally use your water… If you are in a situation where you don’t have water they charge you more for the water they have to carry in.

They use your water unless you’re on well water, in which case they’ll truck their own in and charge you. Well water often has too many minerals for their machines to process properly.
Mr. “what does it matter” needs to realize that not everyone lives in the rich suburbs of a large American city. Some people live in places where there is no water supply; they may have a well, or they may have water delivered weekly (and who needs the carpet cleaners using up the entire week’s worth of water?).

Truck Mounts will use your water. Dry Cleaning Company’s like Host do not use water. They use a petrolium based cleaner that looks like sawdust. Some company’s who use portables will bring their own water because it is mixed with their solution in the tank of the protable. But if they run out they will use your water to refill their tanks.
