I would suggest that if the carpets are not too dirty and there are no stains then renting equipment should do an adequate job. If however they are particularly dirty or stained then bring in a dedicated carpet cleaner. It is not cheaper but a lot easier! Probably, but the hired machine from the store will do a good enough job for the inspection unless the carpet is horribly dirty.

I can tell you that you will probably have difficulty in obtaining the products that is used by a professional cleaning company. Not only that, there is a lot of work that goes into cleaning. it is not as easy as it may seem and you need to be really careful your carpets are fitted properly and you don’t over wet them or shrinkage could occur.

I own a carpet cleaning company and I yes we do have better chemicals and equipment. I use a truck mounted unit that cost over 35k I carry my own soft water (cleans better) and have over 20 different kinds of cleaning chemicals in my van.
Red stains are hard to get out but a good company should be able to get them out. Do not use any house hold chemicals on them as they can set the stains permanently.
Always get a company that uses hot water extraction this is the type of cleaning recommended by the EPA and every major textile manufacturer in the us.
